Below is a brief summary of Recent Miami Accidents that happened during January 2015:
I-95 Tractor Trailer Accident
On January 19, 2015 Florida Highway Patrol reported that at approximately 1:30pm a passenger vehicle and a Tractor Trailer were involved in a deadly Car Accident. The passenger vehicle first lost control and crashed into a concrete barrrer before the impact between the Tractor Trailer and the passenger vehicle. The driver of the passenger vehicle was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Bicycle Accident on Key Biscayne
Tragically, Key Biscayne was the location of another death of a bicyclist. On January 21, 2015 reports are indicating that a motorist that had been at a club on Miami Beach struck two bicyclists. Indications are that bicyclists were traveling in the bike lane at the time. The motorist originally fled the scene but then returned and was eventually arrested and, according to the Miami-Dade County Clerk Website, has pending charges for 1 – Leaving the Scene of an Accident involving a Death; 2- Leaving the Scene of an Accident involving Servious Bodily Injury; 3- DUI Manslaughter; 4- DUI with Bodily Injury to Another.
ATVs and Motorcycles Disrupt Traffic
In a bizarre and dangerous display, hundreds of ATV and Motorcycle riders took over many Miami-Dade County streets doing stunts, intimidating other drivers and violating many traffic laws. The police did not chase the group due to safety concerns. Only a few of the violators received traffic citations.
Tragic Crash Takes the Life of a Miami Beach Senior High Security Guard
Susie Mae Gordon lost her life in a collision with a Truck on northwest 79th Street in Miami-Dade County on January 22, 2015. According to reports, Ms. Mae Gordon appears to have attempted to turn in front of an oncoming truck heading in the opposite direction. This is a very sad story that has devastated many at Miami Beach High School. Boating Under the Influence Charge in Miami-Dade
The operator of a jet boat in Miami-Dade county near the Venetian Causeway crashed into a pilling on January 24, 2015. No passengers were thrown from the boat. However, the boaters indicated that the boat started taking on water and was towered to shore and the passengers were transported to a safe location. One passenger has indicated that she sustained injury. After conducting sobriety tests, the boat operator was arrest for Boating Under the Influence.
