The total deaths attributed to the steroid vials produced by The New England Compounding Center has grown to 12. Among the additional deaths caused by fungal meningitis was that of a Florida man. Although the recently announced Florida victim died in July, The Florida Health Department has stated his death was caused by the contaminated steroid. The New England Compounding Center has issued a recall and has voluntarily surrendered its license. Most of the illnesses in Florida have occurred in Marion County.
The injury and death tolls are expected to rise as the CDC reported that as many as 13,000 people have received injections of the medication between late May and late September. Please look at the CDC website for further details. If you or a loved one have been affected by this you may want to seek the advice of a Personal Injury Attorney that handles Catastrophic Injury and Wrongful Death cases.
